Implement joint training & summer school for in-service teachers

Work Package 4

Lead: Trinity College Dublin (TCD)
Duration: Month 13 – Month 33

WP4 focuses on the upskilling of in-service teachers through maker education, using a combination of online and hands-on learning formats. It builds on the content developed in WP2 and aligns with the European goal of teacher internationalisation and innovation.

Key objectives:

  • Pilot blended training courses and a summer school using maker education modules (WP2);

  • Support international mobility and peer learning for in-service teachers;

  • Ensure quality assurance, recognition, and flexible learning opportunities through digital platforms.

Key tasks include:

T4.1 Make plan for in-service teacher training:
Plan and coordinate joint training courses involving 25 teachers (5 per partner country) per course. Training consists of 125 hours (5 ECTS equivalent). Accreditation certificates will be issued after completion and demonstration of learning outcomes.

T4.2 Practical arrangements & agreements on mobility:
Establish mobility pathways for teachers between partner organisations and local training schools (e.g. TCD, Edumotiva, Kadrina). Includes legal agreements, logistics, and quality monitoring. Each training includes one-week physical mobility for hands-on activities in local settings.

T4.3 Setup of digital training infrastructure:
Configure and adapt the learning platform (same as WP3) to support both synchronous (e.g. live video, group tasks) and asynchronous (e.g. self-paced modules, resource sharing) teaching formats tailored to in-service teachers’ needs.

 T4.4 Training actions: Pilot the courses and summer school:
Three pilot trainings will be organised:

  1.  TCD-led course combining remote sessions and 1-week hands-on practice
  2. Edumotiva-led course testing WP2’s second module
  3. Kadrina-led summer school integrating third module content

All pilots combine online learning (e.g. lectures, assignments, discussions) with in-person maker activities. These events promote peer exchange, practical application, and deeper understanding of maker-based teaching.
